It’s not always easy to capture the seriousness of conditions such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or depression in a simple way.

Graphic designer Patrick Smith took on the challenge. He designed a series of striking minimalist posters that depict various mental health conditions in a minimalist style (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Agoraphobia, Anorexia Nervosa, Depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Narcolepsy).

He came up with these designs in an attempt to break the silence surrounding mental illness and raise awareness of the topic as part of a wider mental health awareness campaign. Patrick’s designs have since been picked up by the largest media outlets in the world, providing a mouthpiece for issues that don’t always get a mainstream voice.
