Sharp Pains
Sadie Kaye takes a sideways look at life, love and parenthood in her humour column for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK Radio 3), Sharp Pains. The first episode broadcasted on RTHK Sept 29, 2020. Sharp Pains was shortlisted for Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program by the 2022 New York Festivals Radio Awards. The Bake Fail episode was chosen by the On Air Festival in New York as one of their 2022 Official Selects. In Sept 2022 Sadie was nominated for ‘Moment of Comedy Gold‘ by the 2022 International Women’s Podcast Awards in London for her performance in Bake Fail.
The series inspired goofy columns in the South China Morning Post, including her ‘3 Terrifying Short Stories‘, published in the festive edition of Post Magazine Dec 12, 2021. The columns have also spawned short stories for anthologies, including After the Storm, published by the Hong Kong Writers Circle and launched at the 2021 Hong Kong International Literary Festival and Imprint 21, launching at the 2023 Hong Kong International Literary Festival March 9. Sadie will be reading one of her contributions at the event at the FCC. In Dec 2022 Sharp Pains was longlisted for Helen Lederer‘s 2022-2023 Comedy Women in Print Prize.
