The Apostrophe
Mental Ideas is collaborating with the Hong Kong Writers Circle on the publication of its online literary magazine The Apostrophe. Every quarter, the five points of the bauhinia flower – Hong Kong’s emblem – is paralleled by five original stories of up to 10,000 words by writers with a connection to Hong Kong. This may take the form of novel excerpts, poetry, non-fiction, hybrid, or other formats. The five chosen stories are matched to five pieces of original artwork that illustrate the stories in an abstract or whimsical way. A standalone piece of cover art is chosen that reflects the theme.
You do not need to be a member of the Hong Kong Writers Circle to submit your writing. However, if a written piece is accepted, the author must be a HKWC member before it is published. Artists and photographers may submit multiple artworks directly or via Mental Ideas on a rolling basis from anywhere in the world! There are no limits on the number of submissions. Please take a moment to view the guidelines and don’t forget to subscribe! The magazine accepts previously published work but you MUST own the rights to your work or obtain permission from the original publisher.
