Home Kong Kitchen Celebrates 1st Birthday!
Home Kong Kitchen has been baking a difference to feed Hong Kong’s homeless, migrants in need and refugees for A YEAR!!!! Thanks to all our homeless friends, incredible team of volunteers and inspirational collaborators @ Breadline, ImpactHK, Bethune House, Loved Flock, Christian Action HK, Refugee Union and the Mission for Migrant Workers!
Our initiative started as a response to news reports that food waste charities were struggling to feed the homeless during the 3rd Wave of the pandemic. So we began to bake our own and donate it to NGO Breadline in weekly food drives. As more and more bighearted Homekongers have joined our cause, Home Kong Kitchen has risen. We now bake, collect and deliver homemade breads, bagels and muffins directly to people living on the streets, in unlicensed shelters and refuges most days!
We make weekly deliveries of food and other gifts to homeless charity ImpactHK and migrant women’s refuge Bethune House and monthly donations to refugees at Refugee Union. We also deliver free breakfasts to anyone who needs it anywhere in Hong Kong and run many special events!
There are many ways you can volunteer for Home Kong Kitchen. You can bake a difference as one of our volunteer home bakers, you can make a difference by adding an extra loaf to your weekly shopping list and donating it to us, or you can create a difference as an artist on our sustainable breadboxes!
Here’s a few of our favorite faces and memories from the past year! ❤️ 🇭🇰
