Storm Chasing @ HK International Lit Fest!

Mental Ideas had a blast at the 2021 Hong Kong International Literary Festival, which this year had a mental health theme. However, we left our mental health hats at home and went along to support mentalist Sadie Kaye, one of many authors published in this year’s Hong Kong Writers Circle anthology After The Storm, edited by Paul Clinton Corrigan. Sadie was reading an excerpt from her absurdist short story Shitstorm.

The Hong Kong Writers Circle is a friendly and unpretentious place for experienced and aspiring writers to meet, critique each other’s work and see their writing published in the Circle’s annual anthology of short stories and poetry. There is a small membership fee but you’ll drink it back within 3 months. Interested parties should get in touch: hello@hkwriterscircle.com

HKWC Chair Chris Maden and Depressed Comedian Larry Feign (actually he looked pretty pleased with himself) were also launching their own books, Price’s Price and The Flower Boat Girl. Both books have received brilliant reviews! Larry was a guest on S1 of our Mental Ideas Podcast and Chris is a guest on S2. You can catch Sadie performing her humor column Sharp Pains on RTHK Radio 3 and read three short stories by her in a festive edition of the SCMP’s Post Magazine Dec 12.
